MEWPS Spotter Instructor Training

This course is designed to equip experienced managers, supervisors, and trainers with the advanced knowledge, instructional techniques, and assessment skills required to deliver and assess MEWPs Spotter training courses. On completion, participants will be competent to train others to act as Spotters when working with Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs).

We also provide MEWP Spotter Training for operatives who will be tasked with the role of MEWP Spotter. This course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely guide and support MEWP operations

Group training is completed at designated training centres or at customer’s premises nationwide

Candidate Requirements

 

Delegates must have a good understanding of English or use of a translator will be required.

For training at customers premiss, suitable and safe facilities and MEWPS must be provided by the customer

Accreditation

 

On successful completion delegates will be awarded a 5 year NST Certificate and Instructor Card

  • Introduction to MEWPs and Spotter responsibilities

  • Irish & EU safety legislation and standards

  • Common MEWP hazards (overturning, collision, entrapment, electrocution)

  • Principles of safe positioning, spotting, and visibility

  • Communication methods: hand signals, radios, and line of sight

  • Establishing and maintaining exclusion zones

  • Risk assessment and safe systems of work for spotting

  • Emergency planning, rescue roles, and incident response

  • Case studies and best practices

  • Practical Spotter demonstration and assessment
