Face Fit Testing Instructor

This one-day Face Fit Testing Instructor Course is designed for individuals who are required to carry out qualitative face fit testing within their organisation or for clients. The course provides delegates with the knowledge, practical skills, and instructional competence required to conduct qualitative face fit testing in line with recognised best practice and legal expectations.

On successful completion, delegates will be qualified to plan, conduct, record, and manage qualitative face fit tests and to act as a competent Face Fit Test Instructor/Facilitator within their organisation.

This course can be delivered at Nationwide Safety Training, Dunboyne, Co. Meath, or at a customer-nominated location (subject to suitable facilities).

Max Number

 

Maximum 8 delegates per course to ensure adequate practical assessment.

Candidate Requirements

 

A good understanding of English.
A suitable, clean, and quiet training room must be provided (if on-site).
Delegates must be clean shaven where the face seal contacts the skin.
Appropriate RPE, face fit testing kits, and consumables will be provided (unless otherwise agreed).

Accreditation

 

On successful completion, delegates will be awarded an accredited Nationwide Safety Training Certificate in Qualitative Face Fit Testing – Instructor / Facilitator, confirming competence to carry out qualitative face fit testing.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the legal and practical requirements for face fit testing
  • Explain the principles of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) and face seal integrity
  • Correctly carry out qualitative face fit testing using recognised methods
  • Identify pass / fail criteria and manage failed tests appropriately
  • Complete face fit test records and certification correctly
  • Manage hygiene, test conditions, and testee requirements
  • Instruct and brief testees clearly and professionally

  • Record Keeping, Certification, and Retesting Requirements
  • Managing Changes Affecting Face Fit (facial hair, weight change, PPE, etc.)
  • Instructor / Facilitator Responsibilities and Professional Standards

COURSE FORMAT

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based instruction, practical demonstration, and hands-on supervised face fit testing exercises. Active participation is required throughout.

ASSESSMENTS

Delegates will complete both a theory assessment and a practical face fit testing assessment to demonstrate competence in conducting qualitative face fit tests.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This course is suitable for safety officers, supervisors, managers, occupational health personnel, trainers, and others who are required to carry out qualitative face fit testing as part of their role. It is also appropriate for those responsible for managing RPE programmes within their organisation.

NOTE

  • This course qualifies delegates to perform qualitative face fit testing only. It does not cover quantitative face fit testing methods.
