This course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills to safely operate both pedestrian and ride-on lawnmowers in line with manufacturer instructions and statutory safety requirements. Trainees will learn how to carry out pre-use checks, recognise common hazards, and apply safe operating practices to minimise risks while undertaking mowing tasks as part of their work duties

Identify the main types of pedestrian and ride-on lawnmowers.
Carry out pre-use checks and basic maintenance.
Recognise common hazards when using lawnmowers.
Demonstrate correct starting and stopping procedures.
Operate lawnmowers safely on different ground conditions.
Apply safe techniques when mowing near slopes, edges, and obstacles.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow manufacturer’s instructions for safe operation.
Respond safely to faults, malfunctions, or emergencies.
