Course Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the purpose of a Safety Management System (SMS).
- Understand the structure and key requirements of ISO standards and OH&S regulations.
- Interpret ISO 45001 and relevant legal requirements in the context of internal audits.
- Recognise the role of internal audits in maintaining and improving management systems.
- Identify different types of audits and their applications.
- Describe the responsibilities of auditors and lead auditors.
- Plan and conduct audits in line with ISO 19011, demonstrating effective preparation and execution.
- Collect objective evidence using interviewing, observation, sampling, and note-taking techniques.
- Evaluate audit findings to assess compliance, performance, and improvement opportunities.
- Compile clear, factual, and value-adding audit reports.
- Perform audit follow-up actions and assess the effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Collaborate professionally with external auditors.
During the two days participants will acquire knowledge and skills in auditing. However, auditing like any other acquired skill requires practice. The best place to practice and extend your experience is during actual audits.
